OBGYN, Expert Witness - Dr. Paul Sinkhorn

Updated: Jan 22, 2020

Whether you’re preparing a case for a client or against a defendant, expert witnesses are integral in supporting the assertions you make as an attorney. Their years of experience and renown in their fields help to make a plausible case to judges and jurors alike. They can dispel the shadow of doubts about your arguments from juror’s minds and help you to get the fair and just outcome that your client needs.

But with so much resting on their testimony, it’s essential to know how to choose the right expert witness.

What you need to look for in an expert witness

Not all medical expert witnesses will necessarily work well for you in court. They need to be well respected in their chosen field with impressive credentials. The greater their accreditation and the more boards on which they serve, the more surety and authority their testimony is likely to lend. What’s more, their impressive medical experience needs to be supplemented by appropriate courtroom experience so that they can be relied upon when they take the stand. Juries respond well to courtroom savvy expert witnesses and the better able your expert witness is to earn their trust, the easier it is for attorneys to make a compelling case on their client’s behalf.
